What We Do
"If you educate woman, you educate a family, if you educate a girl, you educate the future"
Queen Rania of Jordan

Why Girls?

49.9%

of Indonesia’s current population are female
However, their representation in both public and private sector are still limited.

21.9%

of Women Representatives in Parliament
Indonesia is in a crisis of female leadership. Currently, out of 580 representatives in the parliament, only 21.9% of them are females. The root of female apolitical attitudes cannot be separated from the surrounding environment that often does not support young girls to develop their leadership potential, as well as the lack of platform for young women in particular.

5%

of Women CEO or Board Member
Young women in Indonesia are less likely to be socialized by their parents to think about being a leader. From their school experiences, peer associations, and media habits, young women tend to be less exposed to politics and the importance of being involved in their community. Hence, many women do not want to compete in the political arena nor even care with their significant role to their community when they grow up.

Our Impact

Networking
GCL also serves as a mentoring and networking platform for youth leaders in the community. We help to connect them and encourage a collaboration to tackle issues in their society.
Funding
