As we enter a period marked by uncertainty for many young people around the world, Girls Can Lead remains steadfast in its mission to expand access to opportunities, amplify the voices of women and marginalized communities, as well as nurture the next generation of leaders across Indonesia and beyond.
Organized in collaboration with NTT Muda and facilitated by Girls Can Lead’s Founder and Executive Director, Abigail Saveria, alongside NTT Muda Founder Stela Nau, the session offered guidance, encouragement, and practical insights to support the participants’ educational journeys, career aspirations, and broader life goals
The gathering concluded with the distribution of care packages as a symbolic gesture of support for the young women as they navigate life away from home and their academic responsibilities. Beyond the immediate impact, this initiative underscored the importance of accessible mentorship for young women from underrepresented regions. Ultimately, the session reaffirmed a core belief of Girls Can Lead: that leadership potential exists everywhere, and that community, care, and sustained support are essential in helping it flourish.
The series began with EmpowerHER Coaching Sessions, led by Nalindra Pelekai, a certified coach and President of Girls Can Lead’s Board. Conducted in two sessions, the coaching aimed to support young women and girls in navigating their career paths while also exploring their personal potential and self-growth.
The coaching sessions were followed by two public webinar events. The first focused on Navigating Early Career Challenges, supporting early-career professionals and fresh graduates in planning their career journeys by identifying and leveraging their individual strengths and skills. This session was delivered through an Instagram Live format, making it accessible to a wider youth audience.
The second webinar was a masterclass titled “AI Is Your Ally,” presented by Ambika Sarangan, Chief Operating Officer of Mereka. The masterclass trained participants to use AI as a practical assistant to support and advance their careers, while also responding to the growing and increasingly urgent need for AI literacy and responsible, hands-on understanding.
Through these programs, Girls Can Lead seeks to close gaps in young women’s access to career resources, coaching, and technological literacy, while building confidence in their professional direction and capacity to use AI tools responsibly for career development. The event reinforced that meaningful empowerment happens when women are given not only practical skills, but also safe, reflective spaces to learn, ask questions, and grow.
This collaboration represents a significant strategic shift, reflecting our shared commitment to reaching and supporting more young people across Southeast Asia.
Through the Mereka Lead Alliance, we aim to nurture future-ready talent by equipping youth with strong leadership capacities, ethical character, and adaptable digital skills. This regional partnership strengthens our ability to respond to emerging challenges and opportunities, while creating a broader, more inclusive ecosystem for young leaders to learn, grow, and thrive.
Through digital collaborations, we reconnected with alumni and past mentors from our leadership camps, reaffirming our long-term commitment to their journeys. This phase underscored Girls Can Lead’s intention to remain active and relevant in the digital space. By amplifying alumnae voices, we showcased diverse leadership pathways and the real challenges women and girls face in their personal and professional lives, while demonstrating that leadership is a lifelong process that grows with each stage of the alumni journey. Through digital collaborations, we reconnected with alumni and past mentors from our leadership camps, reaffirming our long-term commitment to their journeys.
